Defense is more specialized in 2K27. Seatbelt bodies up the drive. Ankle Braces resist ankle-breakers. Wall Up boosts hands-up contests in the paint. Challenger, Glove, Interceptor, Pick Dodger, and Immovable Enforcer still separate real locks from gamblers.
Wall Up is new in NBA 2K27. It improves contests during hands-up defense in the paint. Verticality. You do not have to leave your feet to affect the shot.
Ankle Braces is new in NBA 2K27. It lowers the chance of getting ankle-broken by dribble moves. The counter to Ankle Assassin.
Seatbelt is new in NBA 2K27. It boosts body-up defense so you can clamp a driver and disrupt their path. Stay attached, steer them, do not just lunge for the ball.
Off-Ball Pest makes you harder to get past without the ball. You can grab and hold a cutter or relocating shooter more effectively.
Denying the hash and bumping cutters is half of Pro-Am defense. Pest is how a lock or a weak-side wing keeps Slippery Off-Ball from walking into an open three.

When you get beat and the lob is in the air, this is the badge that still gives you a play. Paint Patroller is the rim stay-at-home version.

The backend’s job. If you protect the restricted area, this is your first defensive token. Wall Up covers hands-up verticality. Patroller covers the actual block/contest at the rim.

If you guard a scoring five, this is required. Without it, a Post Spin Catalyst big walks through you. With it, you can hold the seal and hunt the strip.

Pro-Am is screens. If you cannot get over the five, Challenger never happens. Locks take this almost as seriously as Seatbelt.

This is the lock’s scoring-prevention badge. Deadeye exists so shooters survive you. Challenger is how you still make them earn it. Late or wild contests do not get the full benefit.

Physical Finisher and Post Powerhouse try to walk through you. Enforcer is the body. Seatbelt is the clamp on the drive path. Together they are the 2K27 lock wall.

This is the new identity badge for locks. Body the hip, take away the strong hand, and make Lightning Launch go nowhere. Glove is the steal. Seatbelt is the clamp.

Used well, it ends possessions. Used as a gamble, it gives up blow-bys. Comp locks take Seatbelt first and Glove second so they are not reaching on every dribble.

Weak-side wings and backends who jump the kick. Bail Out and Versatile Visionary exist to beat you. Interceptor is how lazy skips still die.
